Creating Raving Fans
The Employee: Alex Cuttler
Location: Dallas/Fort Worth
One thing’s for sure. DFW-based Connectivity Specialist Alex Cuttler isn’t afraid to work on a Saturday.
Compass Church was approaching Easter with a major issue complicating things on what is perhaps the biggest day of their calendar year. Alex volunteered his expertise. He stepped up on a day he wasn’t scheduled to work. And guess what? Another Raving Fan was created.
The Organization's Need.
The church’s IT staff was tasked to migrate their badge system from three badges to one. They currently had badges for opening doors, accessing copiers, etc. They wanted to consolidate that down to one badge for all applications. The problem? The readers on their copiers weren’t picking up their new badges.
The Team's Approach.
Alex and his IT contact there had been collaborating back and forth and it was determined that, due to incompatible badge profile issues, the card readers on each copier (across six offices) would need to be reprogrammed.
Due to scheduling conflicts on their end, Thursday rolled into Friday and Alex still hadn’t had the opportunity to go out and provide support.
“I talked with Shawn (Hay) and Steve (Kennemer), and asked if it would be OK if I went out on Saturday to get that done because I knew Easter was coming up,” Alex said. “They agreed that I could do so.”
The project ended up being an all-day affair. Alex had to first figure out what the encryption was that gave the correct badge number. At that point, it was a matter of walking up to each machine, pulling out the reader, and reinstalling it.
“The IT person there was definitely appreciative. He went with me from site to site. There was a lot of pressure on him to get it done,” Alex said. “In the end, in the months that I’ve worked closely with him, I think he appreciates the willingness to go outside of the box and create a solution for them. It’s not always a standard by-the-book solution. We may need to take some time and dig into the problem. He knows that at Datamax, that’s something we’re willing to do.”
What Made them a Raving Fan?
As often is the case, the client says it best: Check out this email sent to Steve Kennemer after Alex finished the job!
I work at Compass Church and frequently have Alex supporting us with our copiers. I just wanted to give him major kudos for supporting us for our latest project and meeting us on such late notice (Saturday morning - evening) for our tap2print badge updated. We are very busy leading up to Easter and Alex was able to setup all of our badge scanners with ease across all of our six locations. I highly recommend him for a promotion/bonus/raise. Thank you for your continued support!
