The word meticulous is defined as “showing great attention to detail; very careful and precise.” It’s also the word used to describe Sulphur Springs technician Brandon Brock’s service delivery in a recent customer support survey.
Brandon says when he “stumbled” into this business 24 years ago, the service manager at the time told him “you know, most people who get into this business tend to stay in it.” Brandon at the time thought, yeah right.
Nevertheless, after more than two decades with Advantage Copy Systems and now Datamax, Brandon wouldn’t even consider changing.
“I just enjoy being out meeting different people and not being stuck in an office somewhere. It’s been 24 years now, and here I am.”
Brandon’s attention to detail is well noted, and easy to notice inside a customer’s office. Meticulous is actually a pretty good word to describe it.
The Fan's Need
Franklin County Treasurer’s office called initially just needing a waste toner bottle. Brandon grabbed a bottle for them and, within a few hours, had them set up. Easy fix. Then, that attention to detail kicked in.
“When I put it in and ran some prints, I noticed they had some color lines and streaks. I asked him about it, and when he told me ‘yeah, it’s been doing that,’ I let him know that they didn’t have to put up with that,” Brandon said.
Brandon ordered the part necessary and called the customer multiple times to let them know the status of the order, as well as when he would be there to complete the service.
The Team’s Approach
After completing the repair, Brandon’s meticulous nature kicked in again as he pulled out his cleaning rag.
“When I’m wiping down that machine, I’ll think I’m done and I’ll put it away. However, if I see another spot, I’m pulling that rag back out. Sometimes, when customers see me do this several times, they may be thinking ‘this guy’s got a problem,’” Brandon says laughing. “The bottom line is, I want to try to keep the environment as clean as possible and make sure I’ve done everything I can to accommodate the customer.”
What Made Them a Raving Fan?
The customer’s survey comments say it best: “The technician did an incredible job. His work was meticulous. Once he completed his main task, he ran several tests to make sure he had fixed the issue, and he dedicated time to cleaning/dusting the machine for us, which we very much appreciate!”
“I approach every call as if I were the customer, and as if it were my machine. They are paying for a maintenance agreement; it’s my job to take care of them the same way I would want it approached.”
