CREATING RAVING FANS - DANIEL WILLIAMS

Creating Raving Fans

The Employee: Daniel Williams (Little Rock Office)
The Client: Village Bible Church

Effective communication is a must for churches in 2018: From sharing information among congregation, staff and church leadership, to distributing its message to potential members and the community at large.

Enter the church newsletter: The standard, go-to bulletin for communicating a congregation’s mission and celebrating its successes.

For Village Bible Church near Hot Springs, Ark., Daniel Williams not only helped staff get their church newsletter printed timely and effectively: Through some careful troubleshooting, he gave them literally 7 hours back in their daily workday.

What Was the Client's Need?

“We installed a imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5560i with Saddle Stitch Finisher to create their newsletter, and initially the customer was really unhappy with it. Printing was going EXTREMELY slow, and it was believed that the issue was with the copier. It was literally taking the client a full day (or more) to print 500 or so copies of this 11X17 16-page booklet.

How did the Team Approach the Challenge?

“After many hours of troubleshooting things over the phone, I would travel to the church and we’d go over things in person. We first determined that the copier was not the problem, and then I looked at the desktop computers, which were seemingly up to date.

Only after digging further, did I realize that the computer they were using to print these files had a Windows 32 bit operating system on it (rather than 64). I knew that in that scenario, it can only utilize 4 of the 16 GB it has. So after building these huge 16-page booklets, it was taking a really, really long time to get to the copier. Programs would close. The user's computer would freeze up.

At that point, I was able to convince their IT person that the computer was causing the lag in time, and they agreed to go through with the upgrade.

What Made them a Raving Fan?

"It’s a big deal for them to get that booklet out. I know the people in the church and the community enjoy getting that literature.

The big deal, for me though, was getting them their time back. We received a 'Thank you' email from the client recently, stating that she was able to print out the newsletter in 1 to 1.5 hours. That’s an enormous amount of time that they are able to now utilize.”
