Creating Raving Fans
If one wanted a peek inside Datamax culture at a microscopic level, there might not be a better place to look than inside the Dallas/Fort Worth parts room. It’s in here (and frankly, anywhere else around the office he travels) where David Scott Creates Raving Fans ad nauseam.
He’s a surefire persona of positivity, willingness, and selflessness — three traits that spread like wildfire around any office. Anyone who interacts with David can speak to his attitude and demeanor with tasks that arise (many beyond his normal call of duty). More specifically, colleague Samantha Morgan put it like this:
“I have never seen him in a bad mood and I see him as an example of the attitude I should have every day,” Samantha wrote. “He makes us look good through our techs and their ability to keep their resolution time down and Create our Raving Fans.”
Perhaps no one can Create Raving Fans within our own four walls quite like David.
He's a backbone in service success...
David is tasked with handling parts and supplies, a role that he’s taken with tremendous pride — so much so that he rearranged the shelving system to be more efficient and enhance productivity. He helps keep the shelves optimized, the tech cars stocked, and the orders coming for parts that may not be available (same goes for toner). He does his job very well, but the difference maker here is his attitude therein.
“Nothing I do is extremely glamorous, but a lot of what brings me satisfaction is seeing someone else succeed. If a tech comes in and says 'I’ve got a copier that’s down and I don’t have the parts,' and I can get them as fast as I can and know that a customer is ultimately happy… then I’m proud to say that I did my part,” David said.
... and he does so much more.
If there’s anything that can create urgent “service” requests, it’s that fancy, cappuccino-making DFW coffee maker going down. When caffeine emergencies arise, David is the man for the job.
“I help keep the coffee maker running, if there’s light bulbs that need to be changed they give me call. We had an ice machine break and flood our floors, and I assisted with that,” David said. “I’ve helped build shelves in the warehouse… I guess in a way I’m a jack of all trades.”
A jack of all trades with a smile on his face, to boot.
He's a beacon of positivity.
If there’s anything David DOESN’T want to be, it’s a dark cloud.
“I try to keep everything as light as I can. Everyone is under enough stress as it is. If I can bump into someone in the office and help them out, you never know what might make his or her afternoon,” David said. “Being positive just sort of comes naturally to me, honestly.”
And with that, David diverts himself from the spotlight once again.
“The way I’m able to do what I can here is, first and foremost, I have a great team around me that has my back,” David said. “I couldn’t do what I do without people backing me up.”
Right back atcha, David. Right back atcha.
