Creating Raving Fans
The Employee: Jeremiah Davis (Dallas / Fort Worth Office)
The Client: First United Methodist Church, Hurst
Talk about a change of plans.
Even with all the recent rain DFW had been having, Jeremiah Davis couldn’t have possibly known what he was getting into when he walked into First United Methodist Church in Hurst last month. But to say there was execution and expertise, plus a whole lot of enthusiasm involved... that would be an understatement.
What Was the Client's Need?
"It was just a courtesy preventative maintenance call. We’ll pull calls, clean the machines up, calibrate them, check the parts and visually inspect the components to see if anything looks worn or close to end of life," Jeremiah said.
"We had been having really heavy rain lately. I checked into the front office, and walked back to the back of the building where the machine was. I went back to my car to get a few parts, and when I came back in, there was a steady stream of water coming out from the stairs, across the hall.
"It looked as though there was a leak in the roof that was coming down into that section of the building. I also noticed that the water was quickly flowing across the hall, and threatening to get inside of their newly renovated sanctuary."
How did the Team Approach the Challenge?
"There’s a long carpet mat with rubber on the bottom near the front door. I immediately flipped that over and moved it near the sanctuary entrance, so with the carpet down, it would began to absorb some of the water. It was the best thing I knew to do at that moment," he said.
"I ran and got a bunch of paper towels, I found where the mops are, and began to help the staff there contain it before it ruined the carpet in the sanctuary.
"I was just thinking about how to get it stopped. I always try to help out when I see something like this happen. It’s in my nature to help other people."
What Made them a Raving Fan?
The voice message left by Lynn Carter at the church says it best.
“He was just unbelievable,” she says in the message. “Over and above the call of duty. Such an amazing person.”
“Then,” she continues, “He went and took care of our copier. He just really makes you guys look good.”
