Creating Raving Fans
The Employee: Mark McKinney, (Little Rock Office)
The Client: GEH & Associates (TableAds)
What Was the Client's Need?
GEH is a marketing company that produces TableAds, laminated tabletop advertisements that you often see at restaurants. Print and production quality means everything to their bottom line. Additionally, they are a unique client because they use a very specific paper that the owner orders out of Germany. It’s got a chalky coating they use to create the ads. The paper they order is very expensive, so it’s important to waste as little as possible.
Recently, the owner wanted guidance and consultation about the way they go about their routine production – a variety of potential hardware and software upgrades to make much needed improvements. They also felt like they needed to calibrate their monitors to match the prints coming off the printers.
In short, they had a lot of questions.
How did the Team Approach the Challenge?
In a few words, knowledge and patience.
“GEH has been a customer of ours for more than five years, but recently purchased an image PROGRAF PRO 6000s,” Mark said. “It’s a tremendous printer, but it’s a very sophisticated machine. Their requirements are very specific in the type of printer they needed and its abilities. I went over and spent some time with them, and discovered it’s not their monitors – the computers and printers are not “talking” the way they should. We did some calibrations, showed them how to fix light and dark colors and trained them on the 6000S.
We also had to adjust the ink saturation – the prints were coming out very vivid in color output, but they were over saturating the paper and coming out extremely wet.
What Made them a Raving Fan?
Mark treated each of their questions with care and respect. His input on necessary hardware and software upgrades helped their product quality and their production output speed.
“I know these upgrades will improve our product TableAds and more importantly our bottom line, so thanks so much for your help in these areas,” the GEC Senior Managing Member wrote in a formal letter to Mark. “The whole team at Datamax treats us like family, and you can tell that you really value our business!”
