Creating Raving Fans

The Employee: Pete Rouget
Location: Dallas/Fort Worth
The Fans: Unto - a Cru Ministry

Unto, a Cru Ministry, dedicates its efforts to “relieve suffering, restore dignity, reveal hope through humanitarian aid.” From food and agriculture to disaster relief, they are on the front lines of responding to the physical and spiritual needs of people around the world.

Like any other nonprofit, their livelihood rests on their fundraising. One major vehicle for delivering materials needed  for this is their imagePRESS C650 and 750 units and, even more specifically, the PrismaPrepare software that drives them.

Any issues with their runs directly impact their fundraising efforts. DFW production specialist Pete Rouget, similarly, is on the front lines of ensuring that Unto has the ability to continue focusing on their forte … not their technology.

Some might call him an expert… this particular customer called him a “Datamax Champ.”

The Fan's Need

The organization runs fundraising books twice a year, a process that is tremendously more streamlined utilizing PrismaPrepare and its variable data capabilities.

“They create these proposals for people that donate hundreds of thousands of dollars; it’s a very huge variable data list, and it’s very important that they get these books out; otherwise, they may not be in business,” Pete said.

Unfortunately, just at the time to send out the proposals, the Key Operator’s laptop crashed recently –and with it, the one license for PrismaPrepare. The organization was down; but not for long, thanks to Pete’s expertise.

The Team’s Approach

Pete, who’s been on the production side of the business for about 20 years now, contacted Canon software fulfillment to have the license rewritten for a new computer. Unfortunately, when the user closed the software and opened it back up, she received a message that the license had expired.

Pete knew it hadn’t. So he moved fast.

“I ended up finding a tech from Canon; he looked at it and said we needed to issue a temporary license, uninstall that, and install theirs again…. It was just another workaround that had to be figured out. I had to do some research on my end, but we were able to get Canon involved and we got the issue resolved.”

More importantly, they were able to send the fundraising proposals out on time.

The customer's response? See below.

“I'm the direct beneficiary to Pete Rouget's amazingly spectacular service. Over the past 3 years, he has bailed me out multiple times with Prisma Prepare issues. As a non-profit, the software is vital for our fundraising efforts. Twice a year we rely on Prisma Prepare to print multi-page proposals with variable data.

Each time there has been an issue because I switched laptops, Pete has been tenacious with Canon to get the situation fixed. I've learned I can count on Pete to get the job done, get it done correctly, and get it done in a timely manner. He's truly a Datamax champ!”
