CREATING RAVING FANS - WILLIAM BENSON

Creating Raving Fans

William Benson Creates Raving Fans everywhere he goes. Out of clients. Out of colleagues. And in the 10 years that he’s worked with newly-appointed Service Manager Chris Williams, he’s made a major raving fan out of his boss.

All these items considered and more, William was recently promoted to Service Supervisor, and now takes on a role that shifts more toward supporting technicians out in the field.  If his trajectory thus far is any indication, Williams is more than up to the task.

He's trained up.

So much so, that Canon USA recently recognized him as the “Student of the Month” for the imagePress v900 training. But his repertoire extends well beyond production.

“He has trained and worked on most of the stuff we carry,” Chris says.

But William humbly shrugs a bit about his wide array of equipment expertise.

“They’re all the same in my eyes,” he says. “They have the same processes; they all essentially work the same… I don’t know, I’ve just always wanted to work on all of them… And it’s my job now to get the other guys to do the same.”

He's in depth.

Chris explains that William goes above and beyond in researching a problem and has the ability to retain a wealth of knowledge. It’s a trait that both Manager and Supervisor share, and a great asset to have when supporting technicians in the field.

“I’m a lot like Chris in a lot of ways. He has a way of seeing an issue and offering a different perspective. Every time I go out on a call, I’m thinking, what do I need? What possibly could be the issue? And I try to have it all on hand, for any potential issue, by the time I get there.”

He's a resource for his team.

“He has been a resource for other technicians for years. He has helped train many of the technicians we have. And his trajectory has been one of growth for the ten years I have worked with him,” Chris said. “From being a technician confined to a certain business (hospital) mostly to working all over the place while learning not only hardware but many of the larger picture concerns of a service department. It's been fun to watch him learning yet more in weeks since he was promoted.”

And that resource becomes formalized as William takes on his new role. But leave little doubt… there will be Raving Fans everywhere he goes.
