Letter on the Third — January 2019

Dear Datamax Family,

Happy New Year!

It’s wonderful to be back and starting new in 2019. A new year brings with it not just a fresh start, but an opportunity to create a fresh perspective on our collective company mission of Creating Raving Fans. In the spirit of starting fresh, I’d like to pose a simple question: Do each of our customers fully buy into our tagline, “Relevant Technology, Raving Results?”

If not, how do we get them to do so?

Here’s a logical breakdown of our tagline and the direct meaning behind it: 

  • Relevant - it’s about the customer and what they need – not about us or assumptions of what we think they need.
  • Technology - it’s about being recognized as a trusted go-to company who can recommend and deliver the best array of technology solutions.
  • Raving, like no other word, expresses our promise, our personality, and our passion.
  • And Results – it’s being accountable for a solid return on technology investment.

How do we deliver that full experience of what our tagline – as well as our mission of Creating Raving Fans – represents?  We achieve this by approaching each workday “All Together.” “All Together” is the Datamax theme for 2019, and it centers around the idea that not only is every job important, but every job is critical to our success collectively. We are 250-employees-strong: not divided by departments or sales territories or office locations, but united in our approach to create the ultimate client experience. Every. Single. Time.

It’s absolutely imperative that every one of us understands the mission ahead. Reinforcing our tagline is a great start to that.

Our industry continues to change. Clicks are down, but color is up. I again see great opportunities for production print, as well as emerging solutions-based offerings in the coming year. But these technologies don’t produce anything without the right philosophy, the right principles and – more importantly – the right people.

In 2019, my aim is to successfully recruit and retain the highest quality employees. That we give them the tools they need to be as successful as possible.  And we make it a horribly difficult decision for anyone to decide to leave this organization.

As we open the book on 2019, are we All In? Are We All Together? Creating Raving Fans is our collective organization-wide mission, but achieving it begins with each and every one of you. Here’s to even bigger things in the coming year for Datamax. The Best is Yet To Be.
