Letter on the Third — January 2025

Dear Datamax Family,

What does it really mean to Thrive? As our Corporate Theme “Thrive 2025” undergirds our journey this year, I’d ask you to consider what that word means for you in your own professional trek. According to the verbiage in our theme brief, we “Thrive” through:

  • vigorous organizational growth,
  • flourishing employees,
  • and prosperous customers.

I’d add that, thriving doesn’t mean being immune to difficulty; it means growing stronger through it.

Here are a few items that bear a lot of weight in our ability to Thrive in 2025.

Let’s embrace the plans that we’ve set.

Over the past month, our business plans for this year came together wonderfully.  This annual best practice establishes where we want to be and how to get there – now it’s up to all of us to see it through. There will be roadblocks, sure, but that’s why we look at it every quarter and reassess.

Let’s ensure we fit the puzzle pieces together.

Make sure our people know our direction, and how they fit into the plan. It’s like building a puzzle – we can’t have any holes in it moving forward.

Let’s be “Smart” about our Smart Advantage insights.

Last month, we gained new insights on our customers’ true buying criteria through the Smart Advantage’s double blind survey.  For copiers, their criteria were, in order, “Resolves issues quickly,” “Speed of response to service requests,” and “provides accurate invoices. For Managed IT Services, they were “Resolves issues quickly,” “Resolve issues without service interruption,” and “Strong network stability.” Let’s manage that, monitor it, and honor what our customers and prospects are saying.

Let’s honor the Mutual Commitment document.

These exercises help us understand what individual employee wants and needs are, and doing so on a regular basis helps accommodate the reality that these needs change over time.

Let’s Remain Relevant at Every Turn.

The Discovery document is such a key piece to providing a solid road map to what our clients are seeking in our partnership. It’s a big part of what we strive for in every interaction, and that’s “relevance.” The Partnership Review helps us stay ahead of issues, respond to evolving needs and remain relevant to their business goals well beyond the point of sale.

Ready to Thrive in 2025? Let’s be the best we can be. No matter what position you are in, don’t be afraid to ask: “How can we do it better?” Most of all, don’t ever stop. We’re not immune to difficulty, but we’ll grow stronger through it.

The Best is Yet to Be.

Your Raving Fan,

Barry-Simon-Fname-Sig
