Letter on the Third — May 2026

Dear Datamax Family,

At our annual kick-off meeting recently, I spent some time talking about two things that matter a lot to me and to the future of this company. One is how it’s our mission as leaders to continue investing in you and your professional growth. The other is how we collectively think about failure and, more importantly, how we respond to it.

Those two ideas go hand in hand. If we’re serious about helping you grow, then we also have to be real about the fact that growth comes with challenges, decisions, and sometimes getting it wrong. What matters ultimately is how we prepare you, how we support you, and how we help you keep moving forward. That’s where our focus is as we continue to evolve this organization and the people in it.  I firmly believe that your future here should be one worth Raving about.

Right Seat on the Bus.”

You might hear me talk about getting people in the right seat on the bus. I know that can cause some uncertainty, or even fear. The reality is, it’s a good thing. It means we’re paying attention to our hiring processes. It means we’re working to make sure you’re in a position where you can grow and do your best work.

As leaders, we’re focused on using our time the right way, every day, to build the organization and help you become more productive and more effective. When you’re in the right role, things start to click. You gain confidence. You take on more responsibility. You start to see new opportunities open up, including the chance to grow into something bigger.

We are determined to find the right person for the right job and give you the opportunity to grow with us long-term. That’s how we think about career development. It’s not left to chance. It’s designed that way.

“Educate, Empower, Engage.”

Once you’re in that position, our job is to help you grow into it. That starts with education. We’re going to train you, prepare you, and give you the tools you need to succeed. We want you to understand not just your role, but how the business works and how your work impacts the bigger picture.

When you’re prepared, you’re empowered. You have the ability to think for yourself, make decisions, and take ownership. That’s where “Problem Seek, Problem Solve” becomes part of how we operate. We always welcome asking questions, identifying root causes to issues, and working toward the right outcomes. The only bad question is the one that doesn’t get asked.

From there, we engage. We bring you into the conversation. We share how we’re performing as a company and where we need to improve. That creates a sense of ownership and connection. You’re not just doing a job. You’re part of something that’s growing, improving, and moving forward with intention.

“Living by the Champion’s Creed.”

The last piece is mindset. At the meeting, I talked about how we frame failure. We believe in what we call the Champion’s Creed. You’re not judged by the number of times you fail, but by the number of times you succeed through accountability and perseverance.

We want people who are willing to step up, make decisions, and take ownership. That means we’re not going to get it right every time. And that’s okay. The most successful people are often the ones who have failed more, because they’re willing to act, learn, and improve.

Our responsibility as leaders is to put you in the best position to succeed, give you the tools, and trust you to move forward. We’ll give you the blueprint, but we also want you to bring your own thinking and creativity to it. That’s how we grow stronger as individuals and as an organization.

If you want to be part of something that goes beyond a 9-to-5 job, this is the place. We are committed to helping you grow, take on new challenges, and build a future you can be proud of. When you commit to Datamax, we’re committed to helping you succeed over the long term. Again, your future here should be one worth Raving about.

People-Centered Culture Wins.

Respectfully,
