Letter on the Third — September 2025

Dear Datamax Family,

When I think back on my earliest experiences in Texas, what I remember most isn’t the size or the stereotypes, but the welcome. On one of my first trips in the 1980s, Dick Callier and I visited Dallas-based Inwood Business Machines Inc. Then-President Larry Jackson’s hospitality stood out. He showed us around, shared some of the unique things they were doing, and made us feel at home. It wasn’t ‘What are you doing here?’ It was an invitation in. That has stayed with me ever since.

Pride That Mirrors Our Culture.

It’s funny, the culture inside every state that we serve mirrors what we strive for at Datamax. Texas is no exception. Pride in your work. Sincerity in your relationships. A willingness to help. These are values that you feel when you spend enough time in this state. Whether I’m in Northeast Texas or the Metroplex, there’s always a sense of community that goes deeper than the workplace. Customers and employees reflect the same pride and values that define who we are as a company.

Hospitality That Feels Sincere.

When I visit our offices, what strikes me most is how genuine the welcome always is. I don’t get treated like “the president.” I get treated like a guest, warmly greeted, invited into conversations, and made to feel part of the team. No matter who I’m walking around chatting with, I’ve experienced a sincerity that isn’t staged. It’s real. And it’s the same sincerity that shows up when our people get involved in chambers, community events, or even when folks from Texas come up to attend our Dragon Boat Races in Arkansas. That willingness to connect is as sincere as it gets.

Frankly, Texas is just a great place to visit. Playing golf at Stonebriar, enjoying the holiday traditions at the Gaylord, or gathering for annual meetings at the East Texas Food Bank: Each of those experiences (and so many more) reflect the same welcoming spirit that makes this state unique.

Resilience Deep in the Heart.

Most recently, my thoughts have been with those impacted by the floods. Texans are strong and resilient, but what stands out most is their instinct to help one another. You see people stepping in, lending a hand, and showing care without hesitation. That same spirit is something we value deeply at Datamax: the belief that embracing your communities is not an obligation, but a calling.

For me, Texas serves as a reminder of how powerful it is when people exhibit pride, show hospitality, and truly care. The Lone Star spirit is alive and well in our Datamax family across Texas. That’s something to truly champion.

The Best is Yet to Be.

Your Raving Fan,
