Before we plan anything one of my sisters or parents volunteer to host once, that is settled decide we all start picking a dish we want to bring/make for thanksgiving. My mom is the one that always makes the Turkey while my sisters and I start picking which side dish we would like to bring, we make a little bit of everything, from mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans, bread rolls, to our desserts, sweet potatoes casserole, pumpkin/apple pies. One neat thing about us is that we like to do a lot of food/desserts from scratch.
I will say we make a lot of food that there is even leftovers for Friday and sometimes we even give some away. I think what makes our thanksgiving special is just getting together and spending quality time with our family that has grown, we have 3 babies in the family that truly bring happiness and are truly a blessing. My parents have always taught us to be grateful for all we have because its a blessing just to be able to wake up, and that is something we will always pass on through generations. We always look forward to celebrating thanksgiving and really just enjoying the time we have together.

My grandmother's sweet potato casserole I still make every Thanksgiving. It's a comfort food that reminds me of my mom and grandmother every year.

We started a tradition of deep frying a turkey with a neighbor 17 years ago. The first year we fried one turkey, the second year we fried 2 turkeys. Over the years it's grown into a huge party for friends and family. Last year we fried 8 turkeys and a chicken! The festivities start on Wednesday night when we prep the birds (injections and various rubs).
For that party we order 3 giant pizzas (36" monsters), then after the birds have been prepped we dole them out to whoever has room in a fridge for a bird or two. On Thanksgiving Day we fire up two fryers when the first football game starts and we cook all kinds of fried appetizers. About 2 pm we start "dropping birds" and get the fire pit going for smores. Friends and family come and go throughout the day - it typically winds down about 10pm and there are probably 100 people who attend. On Friday we get back together for leftovers and the annual cleaning of the fryers.

We will have the traditional meal: Chicken N dressing, ham, crack green beans, mac n cheese, deviled eggs, and rolls. Pies, cobblers, cakes and who knows what else LOL.
This will be my first Thanksgiving without my dad. It is so much harder than I anticipated. We always watched the Cowboys game and enjoyed family time.

My family's Thanksgiving tradition is always at my Granny's house. she cooks everything! She makes dressing, turkey, ham, all desserts (sweet potato pie, chocolate pie and whatever I request that year lolπ) greens and extra meats. She cooks so much I quite literally can't name it all. She starts at the beginning of the week with prep to have everything prepared Thursday.
My Granny has always had a deep love for catering to her family and her love language is definitely cooking. The fun part is all families coming together and having a good time. I'm blessed with a huge family so its never a dull moment and laughter all throughout.
We're definitely a game-playing family we play trouble ALOT, and make up a lot of gamesπ€£ I'm looking forward to the holiday season and hope to hear about yours and others π π
Also to add I use to always help her prep as a kid but with the older I get and work I don't have the time but that is an essential part of my childhood :)

For Thanksgiving, my parents, my grandma, my uncle and his son come to my house where we have a nice Thanksgiving lunch. We plan board games, watch football and make a list of what we are thankful for until dinner. We then heat up all the leftovers from lunch and share another meal together and talk read over our list of things we are thankful for.
We have the normal thanksgiving feast but always have a Greenberg Turkey! It is a must!

Thanksgiving dinner is made by me. I do a Cajun turkey in the oven, gravy made from giblets, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, deviled eggs, baked mac and cheese, homemade mashed potatoes, rolls, pumpkin cheesecake, and baked pecans.
We have dinner as a family with our 3 kids, then take another load of food to his parents and grandparents house and eat with them.
I enjoy family time and feel thankful and blessed for everything that I have.
