As far as copier deliveries go, it was one not soon to be forgotten.
East Texas Delivery Driver Jerry Ford and company rolled into the Terrell Chamber of Commerce office to deliver the organization's new copier. They came equipped with two distinct qualities: Smiles on their faces and cheer in their voices, yet the professional mindset to get them set up promptly.
The impression they made? It was huge for the new customer.
"It was like a Christmas present to them. We walked in with a smile on our faces, and we spoke to everyone there. They could tell that we knew what we were doing. Well, once I started cutting the plastic off, they were like 'This is so pretty! Let’s do a ribbon cutting!" Jerry recalls.
So that's exactly what they did. The photo they took is the one you see above. Delivering First Impressions is precisely what our drivers do. In that spirit, below hear from our Datamax delivery team and how they go about conducting their business.

"I love doing what I do. When I roll in the copier and cut the plastic off the machine, it makes me feel good to see the smile on their face with that new equipment. I’ve had customers tell me numerous times, ‘you must have been doing this for a while. You’re very professional.’ That makes me feel good.”

Whether I’m at work or not, I try to live my life every day the same way. If you’re giving out positive energy, most of the time you’ll get it back.
Most of the time when we show up, customers are already glad to see us. When I go in, it’s all smiles and hellos, and how are you doing? We’re about to get you guys fixed up today. When we unwrap that copier, it’s like Christmas. When we’re hooking up the machine, it’s small talk here and there, and it goes so many different ways with different customers. The truth is, we’re doing a service for the customers in Little Rock. Anytime you can help somebody, you’ve GOT to have that good attitude.”

When I walk in with a smile on my face, it can brighten the room. Someone can be going through a hardship, and if I’m coming in with a smile, hopefully, you better their day as well. My favorite thing is to bring a smile to another person. A little bit of kindness can go a long way with someone else.
I handle the Baptist Health side of things the majority of the time. Whether it’s on the delivery truck or working Baptist day to day… I go in with a smile on my face, always checking up on them. If there’s something wrong while I’m on site I do my utmost to see if I can help out. It’s also about making sure I have the time in the day to make sure I get where I need to go and deliver in a timely manner.

Every delivery’s a little different. I’ve delivered to homes, and to construction sites where it’s dirt, ground, gravel, and mud. I’ve even delivered equipment through a morgue at a local hospital before. Today, I had 20 printers to install and 30 to pick up at a large client of our’s, so it was an all-day project.
Wherever I’m going, it’s about having a smile on your face and going in there with a positive attitude. You go in there and chat with the customer and find out exactly where they want the equipment and you make it happen.
Every day is different, but no matter what is going on, I still go in there with a smile.

My role is to deliver the best possible customer service to represent Datamax.
When I arrive on site, I like to make them feel comfortable about coming into their business. I’m sure to let them know we’re delivering the best technology there is. I like coming in white a smile and an upbeat attitude and encouraging way. It’s a hard job, but all of us have to get along and make it happen. The past several days, we’ve been swamped with rain. I had to go pick up two Konica Minoltas with finishers on the side of them. I knew the place they were sending me so I thought, ‘OK, this is going to be tough. I have stairs, I’ve got a stair climber, and it’s raining. How should I handle this?’
Well, my wife bought me a rain suit so I went back and changed into that. I also have an extra pair of socks and shoes. When I arrived, the woman in the office said, ‘Oh my gosh are you going to do this today?’ I said ‘yes ma’am. I like to start and I like to finish. We’ve got blankets back there and we’re going to get these machines on the truck today.’ She asked me if I needed help and I said, ‘No ma'am. That’s not your job. That’s our job.’
So I suited up, and I got it done in an hour or so. I can’t say enough about Datamax and enough about Mr. Barry Simon. I respect him to the highest.
