Building client rapport? One could say it’s in Robert Winston’s DNA.
Consider this a fair assessment. Robert’s naturally charming demeanor and lovable sense of humor make him an ideal Datamax client-facing representative. Frankly, most of his clients look forward to seeing him walk into their office because of the human-to-human rapport he builds.
But it doesn’t tell the WHOLE story about Robert Winston’s skillset and overall value as a connectivity specialist in Little Rock. After all, Robert, who started as a Delivery Driver eight years ago, is very much self-taught in the art of device connectivity. What started as a lot of “How does that work?” and “Show me how to do this” dialogue with Connectivity Manager Tony Foust back in the day has led to a place of expertise for Robert.
So being bred for Client Rapport? Robert certainly is, but he’s done everything in his power to further perfect that craft.
Robert is Engaged with the process.
From just about his first day as a delivery driver, Robert was asking questions. He wanted to know more.
“Robert is a natural when it comes to training the customers. Robert started as a driver here at Datamax. While usually, drivers will exit the scene once the Connect Team takes over, Robert was the one sitting there asking questions, watching what we were doing, asking me if I had any data entry that he could do,” his manager Tony Foust has previously said.
So, when an opening came up, Robert was a natural to fill the void.
“Tony is the guy,” Robert said. “I guess it started with installing print drivers, and then with Tony it became do you think you could do that?"
Robert is Eager to solve problems.
Robert is a “want-to-know” person. When he can’t figure something out, it’s a given that he’s going to research it until an answer presents itself.
“I love doing what I do. I’m outside the office every day meeting people, encountering problems. I have a very strong ‘go fix it’ attitude. I’m not a ‘sorry, it’s still broken’ type of person. That doesn’t work for me. We have to fix the problem.”
Robert is Energetic – at the office and outside of it.
It’s been said before that you can hear Robert coming well before you actually make eyes with him. Some might even call him “loud.” But between the jokes, the laughs alongside customers, and the cheer that seems to follow him everywhere, Robert identifies a source for all this energy.
“My energy? It comes from dealing with my kids!” Robert said. “I have a six-year-old and a two-year-old, I bring that same energy that they bring. My day starts with a cup of coffee and Bluey or Elmo playing in the back ground… Throughout that day, I’m either singing it or humming it. It can’t help but put you in a good mood as you start out your day.”
