Ironing Out the Details.

Little Rock Shop Supervisor Jedena Garrett handles all inventory in receiving. If it’s out there or in house, she’s on top of it, ironing out all the details.

Jedena Garret has some words of wisdom for anyone who might want to pursue a career in inventory management.

She should know. Jedena’s been tracking inventory and managing cycle counts in one way or another since 1985.

  • Number 1: Don’t wear heels. Out in the warehouse, you’d better be ready to get your hands dirty, ready to tug and push and pull. These machines aren’t light, after all.
  • Number 2: Have that “perfection” mindset. In handling an entire fleet of inventory, you’ve got to have that burning desire to do it right the first time.

“My parents always told me if you’re doing a job do it well. If you’re not, go do something else,” Jedena said. “The way I look at it is when I see inventory I see dollar signs. And those are not my dollars. It’s my job to keep track of it all, to keep it under control, and if we don’t, that’s money down the drain."

Her charge is to keep an accurate track of all things new equipment in Arkansas. Her forte is her exquisite attention to detail. "The devil is in the details” is an age-old idiom that indicates that the details of a task may be more complicated than what appears. No one understands this more than Jedena. If it’s coming or going or sitting in the shop, she’s on top of it, ironing out all the details along the way.

“If something’s off then I’m not doing my job,” Jedena said. “I take a lot of pride in tracking down any problem or any missing piece of inventory. How did you lose something? How did you gain something? Something had to happen along the way. It doesn’t just disappear. That’s part of my job to find out. If and when I can't figure it out on my own, I go to others for help around the organization. A new set of eyes or expertise never hurts.”

Service Manager Mark McKinney Weighs in on Jedena's Attention to Detail.

  • "She is a stickler for process and procedure. She is very adamant about paperwork getting done."
  • "She is very protective about inventory and keeping it correct. Which is good but she is a different level."
  • "Inventory needs to be right so we know what we have in stock and if you ask Jedena what we have, you can bet on it being right."
