At Datamax, we don’t just create raving fans. We create raving friends.
Connecting is a fundamental component to our customer service, and to the communities we’re fortunate to serve. Furthermore, after a number of employee surveys came to the inbox of Datamax Texas President David Rhodes early this year, the East Texas team was moved to do even more.
So, through some big-time collaboration, they came up with a plan — the Multiply Meals Plan. This new initiative is an ongoing donation program and partnership with the East Texas Food Bank.
“First, I want to compliment the employees who participated in our survey, and those who had the idea of doing more of a centralized donation to each individual marketplace we are in,” Rhodes said. “They need to be commended, too, for getting some key people in East Texas together to designate the Food Bank as a best fit… I’m really pleased that this was a team effort.”
Here’s the Basics.
According to the East Texas Food Bank’s 2020 Annual Report, hunger affects 1 in 5 people in East Texas right now. The stat staggered to the East Texas team. A few other numbers found to be compelling:
- The East Texas Food Bank operates with over 200 partner agencies and feeding programs throughout East Texas, covering 26 East Texas Counties... or 20,000 square miles.
- 96 percent of all revenue and support the East Texas Food Bank receives goes directly toward its programs.
- 91,533 families were served by its partner agencies and programs in 2020.
- 46,976 snacks were distributed during the school year in 2020 through the food bank's Afterschool Snack Program.
- 11 million total pounds of USDA product were received by the food bank in 2020, a 55.5% increase over 2019.
Here’s the Multiply Meals Plan.
Our Wish. Our wish, through partnership with the East Texas Food Bank, is to help put more food on the table for communities in need within the twenty-six East Texas counties we jointly serve.
How it Works: For every technology transaction with Datamax of $1,500 or more, we will donate $50 to the East Texas Food Bank, in honor of the customer. Based on ETFB’s ability to serve 8 meals per every $1 donated, approximately 400 meals will be served to those in need through the $50 donation – multiplying our collective efforts to fight hunger and feed hope in East Texas.
Here’s the Impact.
As people everywhere — Datamax employees included — try to get back to “normal life” this year, there are so many in our communities who are struggling worse than us.
I think it’s important that companies and employees, like our own at Datamax, recognize that there are people in need and we should contribute to that,” Rhodes said. “It may not always be the largest amount of money, but it will have some effect. We benefit from a sale, while we benefit people in need.”
