His last name might be Snow, but his personality is anything but frigid.
At Christmas time, you hear Logistics Supervisor Michael Snow’s rousing rendition of various Christmas Carols. On Monday mornings in the fall after an NFL weekend, you’ll hear him wax philosophically (and passionately) about his beloved Cowboys. Down the hallway day in and day out, you’ll hear his laughter, sense his joy, and the positive spark he creates lights you up a bit inside, too.
Back in the Tyler warehouse, you’ll see him mentor and support an incredibly tight-knit team.
Michael Snow is a huge source of warmth, positivity, and stability. Whether it’s guiding his team, or simply lending his ear to a colleague, Mike is a magnificent force that represents what’s good about working at a place like Datamax.
Sparking Teamwork.
It’s a concept he learned at an early age.
Growing up in Tyler, Michael and his two younger brothers were raised by two loving parents who taught their sons important lessons through sports. His dad coached just about everything Michael played.
“I think he really instilled in me early the idea of teamwork. Whether it was basketball, baseball, football, you name it, he coached it. And what he taught us was that no one person is bigger than the other. If you lose, that one person didn’t lose. You win as a team and you lose as a team. And you know what? Either way, you’re there for each other. All of that pretty much transpired into my life today.”
Sparking The Grind.
In high school, Michael was a four-year letterman at Offensive Guard for the vaunted Tyler High Lions football team. In that position, he didn’t expect much glory. His job on the gridiron was an absolute selfless, yet completely essential grind. But he did know this: If he did his job, and everyone else around him did their job, then “we’re all good.”
“In logistics, we might not get all the glory. But, in order for that salesperson to earn that trip, we have to make sure all of our stuff is in stock and ready to go. We’ve got to provide the best delivery experience possible. We’ve got to make that salesperson feel confident in what we’re doing to go out and sell some more.”
Sparking His Peers.
He’s still got the trophy at his house. It’s a Leadership Award that was presented to Michael all the way back in Middle School. Even as a child, his peers saw him as a leader who ignited positivity in whatever situation he found himself in.
Not much has changed here at Datamax.
“I’m always letting my team know how valuable they are, not only to me but to the company. I feel like it’s important that I display trust in them. I trust they’re going to get it done without me looking over their shoulder. If we come into something that’s finding us down, and someone else gives a suggestion, let’s go with it! I want my team to say ‘This guy is willing to listen to what I have to say.’”
Sparking a Better Tomorrow.
Michael’s pastor at God’s Will Baptist Church says often “You always want people to feel like you’re leaving it better than it was when you came.” Likewise, he wants his fellow coworkers to feel better about themselves when they leave for the day. Feel accomplished. Feel valued. Feel like they’re truly appreciated. Feel like tomorrow is going to be even better than today.
And with that, Mike pauses. Asked about what HE’S passionate about, he harkens back to 2022. After an emergency surgery, he was in ICU for multiple weeks, while coworkers and family feared the worst for their beloved colleague. Out of the gloom of recalling such a horrific memory, that signature smile of Michael slowly returns.
“What am I passionate about? To be honest, after my scare back in 2022, everything makes me happy. You can’t sell anything short anymore. Carpe Diem. That’s me,” he says.
Carpe Diem. Seize the Day. But also, Embrace the Spark.
