They Practice Polychronicity.

Polychronicity? It's just a fancy word for multitasking... a skill that our admin teams across our organization know all too well. Read insights below from just a few of our "Pillars" at Datamax.

Polychronicity, multi-tasking, call it what you will. But for Kim Clark, in a word, it means this: Prioritization.

In two other words, she offers this: Time Management.  Both these things are key for the Little Rock-based biller and consummate multitasker, who jumps from sales to service to logistics-related communications on an hour-by-hour basis.

Administrative employees often need to multitask due to the diverse range of responsibilities and tasks they handle on a daily basis. Some reasons and ways they must multitask include:

  • Handling Multiple Tasks: Administrative staff often have to manage various tasks simultaneously, such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, managing emails, and handling paperwork.
  • Time Management: Multitasking helps them utilize their time efficiently, especially when dealing with tight schedules and deadlines.
  • Prioritization: Juggling multiple tasks requires them to prioritize which tasks need immediate attention and which can be addressed later.
  • Supporting Different Departments: Administrative employees might assist different departments, each with its own set of tasks, necessitating multitasking abilities.
  • Adapting to Changing Priorities: They must be flexible and quickly shift focus when priorities change or unexpected situations arise.

But back to what Kim has to say on the subject… Prioritization and Time Management.

“It’s imperative because admin is always getting hit from all sides (sales, service & customer) with questions, projects, etc., all while keeping up with our daily duties.  You have to be able to jump from one thing to another and back without missing a beat,” Kim said.

Kim isn’t the only one. Check out what a few of her Administrative peers have to say on the subject.
