The Client: Access Health Services
The Account Representatives: Grant Murray
Grant Murray's background in graphic design, combined with his Datamax production print training and expertise, made him a dual threat in helping Access Health Services' vision of in-house production a cost-cutting, time-saving reality.
The Business Challenge
Access Health Services was already a Datamax MFP client. But about six months after the installation of the Multi-Function Printers, primary account representative Tommy Goucher saw an opportunity for the client to do print production in-house. So he enlisted the help of Grant Murray.
The client was working with an outside print vendor for a large amount of printed materials (marketing collateral, healthcare books, HR documents, etc.). In addition to the large costs involved, they were hamstrung by the deadlines of the print company, which presented problems when they need a quick turnaround on documents. Due to the nature of many of the healthcare materials, they needed the ability to do short runs with high demand.
The Thought Process
Tommy set up an initial meeting for Grant and Access Health Services. Grant learned extensive details of their workflow process. With a design background, he was able to explore how they were laying out their booklets, and offer advice on best practices in working with the new equipment.
“I think we were able to lend some credibility to what Datamax offers, and help them understand the capabilities of what they’re trying to accomplish,” Grant said.
After the installation of the imagePRESS 750, Grant maintained a very hands-on relationship with Access Health Services, from their initial set up to ongoing training with the fulfillment team. They do a lot of mailing, a lot of folding brochures, and they also print ID cards that are a very unique substrate (about half paper and half plastic).
“With the training I’ve had with Fiery and Command Workstation, I was able to make some recommendations in printing variable data. Rather than hand applying each label to envelopes that go out, they can print it all in one pass,” Grant said. “Also, their machine is able to run their unique ID card with very unique paper, and hit the colors exactly. That was a big deal for them.”
Grant has not just provided additional solutions, but helped them discover best ways to utilize their equipment for what they are trying to accomplish.
The Prevailing Results
By bringing their print production in-house, Access Health Services can steer their own ship. They’re able to produce professional-looking documents without the restrictions and deadlines they were previously dealing with.
“It just comes down to seeing their needs and coming through with a solution,” Grant said. “When issues have risen, we’ve followed through with everything we said we were going to do.”
