Navigating an ultra-competitive deal can be tough for any Business Process Consultant. Add in the coronavirus, and this challenge only multiplies.

Jamie Rhodes first reached out to JC Commercial, a Lewisville-based construction company, at the onset of COVID-19. Relying on email, she had to be both strategic and tenacious in conveying the Datamax value-add. But she did so with a true fighter’s edge.

The Business Challenge

“They were vague at first, in sharing some of the challenges they were facing,” Jamie says. “I had them send me an Excel spreadsheet of the specs of their current equipment.”

She took those specs and put them side with the Canon c165, an emerging star in Datamax’s light production line. Meanwhile, Jamie continued to dig – email after email. Continuous phone calls. What were their challenges? What were their priorities, and how could Datamax help align ourselves with solving them?

“She did mention it was really difficult get a hold of anyone when they had questions or service needs,” Jamie says. “They scan A LOT, and when I compared their current equipment to the Canon, the scan quality and the speed with our proposed equipment was much higher.”

The Thought Process

“It was difficult. But I just really hit hard on the capabilities of the Canon device, as well as Datamax’s service guarantees and local support.”

Jamie sent them information about our service response quadrant, and how we track our response and resolution times. She discussed our maintenance contract, hit hard on our guarantees. Eventually, although their location was on lock down, Jamie’s contacts agreed to visit Datamax for an onsite demo. Everyone wore masks and kept their social distance.

“They met our service team, visited with Steve Kennemer and Daniel Ketchum. They both did a great job of explaining how we accomplish those numbers for our resolution times. How everything is local with Datamax. They were blown away by our service, as well as the product itself.”

Datamax was one of the higher bids. But JC Commercial didn’t just see price – they saw value.

“They did their due diligence and took multiple bids from other providers. After reviewing all of the information provided, including a summary of benefits with Datamax, they felt that Datamax’s service and the Canon solution was unparalleled.”
