The Client: Liberty Christian Academy (Dallas/Fort Worth)
The Account Representative: Jamie Rhodes

German physical trainer and fitness legend Joseph Pilates once said, “Patience and Persistence are vital qualities in the ultimate successful accomplishment of any worthwhile endeavor.”

Jamie Rhodes possessed both of these key attributes in her pursuit of Liberty Christian Academy’s business.

She was patient. It was over three years ago when she first reached out to the private school in Argyle.

She was persistent. Steadily and consistently over that three-year span, she initiated communication and responded to needs – through weekend emails, through onsite demos, and through expert, yet personable consultation.

And, ultimately, it’s the school that will benefit from the fruits of her labor.

The Business Challenge

When Jamie reached out to Liberty Christian Academy three years ago, she learned quickly that, at the time, the IT Director there had a close relationship with the Xerox representative. They seemed happy where they were at.

Yet, Jamie continued to check in, stop by frequently, send out emails. When she found out that the IT Director was no longer there, Jamie didn’t hesitate.

“I sent the new IT Director an email over the weekend, and that Monday I got a response from her. At first, she said that they were good right now,” Jamie recalls. “Linda (Narcho) and I strategized together on our response, and I said that I’d really appreciate 5 to 10 minutes of your time to share some information about Datamax offerings.”

So the two sat down. She genuinely enjoyed learning about the Datamax story and what our company had to offer. Once Jamie told our story, she began to say they were actively looking for a new device. Shortly after the meeting, two representatives from Liberty Christian came in for an in-house demo. In the summer of last year, they purchased their first Canon device from Datamax – but there were more to come.

“They loved the Canon equipment because it’s so user-friendly and easy to manage. We had a demo on uniFLOW, and they really liked the follow-me printing, the ability to track usage, badge-in authentication, and ultimately the software will help them reduce allover print costs.”

The Thought Process

Along the way, Jamie became privy to many of the familiar, yet debilitating pain points for the school.

  • The billing was horribly inaccurate, and it was nearly impossible to get someone from Xerox to explain the invoices or resolve any issues.
  • They had equipment that would be down for several days before a technician arrived.
  • Additionally, Xerox had never mentioned a DIR contract with them.

So what gave them confidence Datamax could eliminate that pain? What was Jamie’s game plan? She got creative by setting up her proposal with two lease agreements (one with Canon Financial and the other with Datamax DIR) to make best financial sense. She also sold Datamax to a “T.”

“I have to think that when she saw a rep emailing her on the weekend, that helped,” Jamie says. “The Canon product sells itself with output quality, advanced scanning features, etc. Another key component was all the benefits of the DIR contract. And just talking about Datamax’s service resolution times, that blew them away.”

The Prevailing Results

In all, Liberty Christian has purchased 10 devices (including one production unit and two high-volume black and white units), many of which are already delivered. Patience and persistence won yet again for a rising star in the Dallas/Forth sales arena. When a client presents a need, Jamie responds like any trusted partner would.

“They’re really nice, fun people to work with, and they rave about the Canon devices matched with Datamax’s service… I would just say we have a great partnership going and we’re excited to provide them with a more reliable, cost-effective solution,” Jamie says.
