The Account Representative: Jenny Wilson (Tyler Office)
The Business Challenge
Starting from scratch – ie opening up a new office - is perhaps the ultimate business technology challenge. That was the case for a client with Rudd Contracting, which is branching off to start a new division in Tyler.
What began as a prospect knowing he needed a wide format printer and perhaps a color MFP, led to Datamax in Tyler setting up the new business’ entire technology infrastructure. Education, attentiveness from Jenny and a full team approach resulted in an ecstatic client who is pleased to have “one number to call” for any technology-related issues.
“Business owners have so many details to think about when opening a new office that technology infrastructure gets over looked. They know they need it to perform daily tasks efficiently, but do not know where to start to get it in place,” Jenny Wilson said.
Luckily, Jenny and the Tyler team had a specific plan of attack.
The Thought Process
“He initially came into the show room because he needed a wide format printer. The demo was a team effort with Service Manager Justin Harper, Customer Service Specialist Kaylee Batty and I in the showroom going over every detail about the wide format. During the demo he noticed our 3CX phone system set up and wanted to hear about our phone program. Business Technology Consultant Kenny Prince came in to visit with him about his phone needs. The phone demo led into a conversation about his network needs, the software he was currently utilizing, and other IT hardware needs.
During our Network Assessment, Technology Specialist Taylor Miller uncovered his plans to work out of two locations, which was going to change his server needs. The customer came to our training room where Taylor Miller had everything drawn out in detail to explain how our plan for him would best serve his needs. Infrastructure Services Supervisor Kirk Molloy and Sales Help Desk Representative Josh McConnell also attended that meeting to help with more details of the plan. The client was very impressed and even said ‘no one has ever explained all of this to me in this manner.’
In all, we’ve provided him a new server, firewall, wireless access points, a phone system, a Canon imageRUNNER 3525, and a Canon TS3000 wide format printer."
The Prevailing Results
"The client admitted that we weren’t the cheapest. But he loved the simplicity of having one number to call when it came to the technology services," Jenny said.
"I think we took the time to hear what he needed, came up with a solution, and then adapted the solution to meet the customer’s budget. Our team spent time with him in our show room, time with him at his office and additional time at our training center. The client thanked us many times for taking the time to break down the solution so he could understand how it would all work. He could tell we had not only done our homework, but put the whole Tyler team together to build out his infrastructure."
