The Client: Urology Tyler
The Account Representative: Matt Crouch, Jenny Wilson
When we talk about being recognized as a trusted go-to company who can recommend and deliver the widest array of technologies, Urology Tyler quickly comes to mind.
From phone systems… to Managed Services… to disaster recovery… to copiers and printers… to server projects already slated for the coming year… Datamax has developed a trusted partnership with the East Texas facility. And one that continues to grow.
The Business Challenge
In 2016, the facility was growing at a rapid pace. Their IT provider at the time was slow to respond and resolve issues, so Urology Tyler turned to Datamax and signed a Managed Network Services agreement. Later that year, after discussion regarding their antiquated phone systems and ability to communicate internally at optimum levels, Datamax installed 80 new phones for Urology Tyler.
Recently, the facility fell victim to Ransomware. The Datamax East Texas Team responded swiftly, worked late into the night and ultimately got them operational by the next day.
This year, Urology Tyler completed a facility expansion to facilitate patient demand. Datamax’s ultimate challenge is to proactively provide the technology to accommodate continued growth.
The Thought Process
"Aside from our initial onboarding (MNS), we worked very hard to know the customer, understand what was on the network and to provide recommendations along the way,” Advanced Technology Specialist Matt Crouch said. “Every opportunity we have, we say ‘here are some things that need to be upgraded, here’s something that may need to be looked into.’”
Urology has taken Datamax recommendations and progressively updated old computers and, in the same vein, replaced old printers and copiers with newer equipment.
“We just installed 3 new MFPs for them. They had one that was running scans continuously, having trouble keeping up with the volume and we recommended that they go with a bigger machine,” Account Representative Jenny Wilson said. “The contact there just called me and said ‘this is the best install we’ve ever had. Such an easy transition.”
Last month, Datamax received a call when an employee at Urology Tyler was having issues pulling up files in the Electronic Health Records system.
Upon further investigation, Matt noticed that files that should be there were encrypted… in numerous places. They soon discovered it was Ransomware.
“We unplugged everything from the network, checked every single machine before hooking it up. We kept the client aware of everything we were doing as we went. After getting everything offline and cleaning up a handful of servers, we started the recovery process. Taylor Miller was up until 4:30 a.m. working that evening.”
The Prevailing Results
Earlier this year, Datamax accompanied several employees at Urology to take notes on the expansion of a new wing at the facility. The walkthrough was a clear sign that as Urology continous to expand, we are a key component to helping facilitate that growth.
“The mentality comes down to doing it right the first time,” Matt said. “We know their whole system. They know they are going to spend 'x' amount of money with us, but they are going to be treated properly and get the proper service they deserve.”
