The Client: Jessieville and Malvern ISDs
The Account Representative: Molissa Jordan Spradley
If winning over a prospect is a sprint, then gaining a partnership is a marathon.
Molissa Jordan-Spradley is up for the long-distance challenge. Through training, persistence, and consistency, Molissa has conquered the hills, covered the miles, and earned the right to call Malvern and Jessieville ISD true Datamax partners.
There is no finish line to this partnership – Molissa understands well that trust and partner. But the rewards that come with the race are ten-fold.
The Business Challenge
Molissa took over these two Hot Springs-area school districts two and a half years ago. For her key contacts there (the IT Director at Jessieville and the Superintendent ant Malvern), there were many questions and a lot of trust to be earned.
Luckily, Molissa has a degree in accounting.
The Thought Process
This is just one way Molissa initially worked to develop the trust and understanding of the districts. She started by showing them the numbers on a regular basis.
“These decision-makers, they look at the total costs, and with COVID especially, these people are more price-conscious than ever before. Coworkers laugh at me because I’m all about spreadsheets and numbers. But that’s important for decision makers right now.”
Molissa never goes into a meeting where she would be asked a question she doesn’t have an answer for. In her every-six-weeks or so Partnership Review, she brings with her a cost analysis, the districts’ exact volumes, what they’re spending, what they’re running, and what she proposes.
Molissa also understands the importance of responsiveness. While the IT Director usually communicates needs or questions via email during business hours, it isn’t unusual for the Malvern Superintendent to fire off at text at 7:30 or 8 p.m.
“And he knows I’ll respond to that text promptly,” Molissa says. “
The Prevailing Results
The Prevailing results for partnership are ongoing. The needs keep coming in. Nevertheless, Molissa has mastered the art of fleet management that satisfies these schools' wants and need. Just last month, Molissa looked at the entire fleet at Jessieville, and noted that the smaller devices didn’t anywhere near need replacing.
So she pulled the larger devices, with the larger volumes, and put a proposal together to replace those devices now, and in 2.5 years replace the smaller ones. The schools are happy they don’t have to go to bid, and their needs are currently met.
“I’ve had many people there say, since we’ve been with Datamax, the copiers and printers are something that we simply don’t have to worry about,” Molissa said. “We can focus on other things. And as a partner, I consider that my job.”
