Every millimeter, or even 1/16 of a millimeter, matters in production print.
A DFW commercial printer was having issues with their varioPRINT, and an ever-so-slight registration error continued to haunt them. After witnessing Datamax’s full on team approach, and an unexpected fix for the printer was realized, a new Raving Fan was born.
The Business Challenge
Logan Graphics, a Grand Prairie-based commercial printer, does the majority of their work for local school districts printing test materials.
The organization had a varioPRINT 120 that was having issues with registration. It was off by only 1/16th of a millimeter, but one of their customers uses printouts for quilting. The slightest error, such was the case, throws off their materials completely.
The current technology partner's service team could not resolve the issue.
The Thought Process
“The first time Edward Robinson and I went out there, it was a cold call,” Trey McFarlin said. “One of the partners there gave us a tour, showed us their multiple presses, but really there was no need at the time."
About two months later, it was Edward’s idea to go back out there. Sure enough, on this visit they were very open about sharing their issues with registration. We told them to come to our facility and demo our's (we had a VarioPRINT 115 on the demo floor), and they agreed.
While they were there, we had the same problem at first. But, they got to watch our techs come in and do what they do. Pete Rouget, with the help of Steve Kennemer, fix the problem.”
“Once they saw that, it changed the whole dynamic. They started off thinking this must just be a varioPRINT issue. But after they saw our whole team approach, and the expertise of our technicians, it changed really quickly. They came in talking about a varioPRINT 115, and after they saw our establishment, and saw Steve and Pete fix the problem when no one else could, they said, “We want to do a 130 and 115.”
The Prevailing Results
“I think the biggest thing they took from this whole experience, is that we’re a team here at Datamax. It was really all hands on deck to earn their business. From us, to service, to Clay Mills to Rachel and David Rhodes," Trey said.
They got to witness the team atmosphere here at Datamax, in every category.”
