DATAMAX LITTLE BLUE BOOK STORY - Darla Goedelmann

Darla Goedelmann's Story

(Payroll, Saint Louis Office)  Truth be told, Darla Goedelmann didn’t think she’d like doing payroll.

When her boss at the time, Fred Weaver, “volunteered” her to move to the new position, Goedelmann was admittedly more than hesitant.

“Accounting and numbers really aren’t my thing,” Darla said. “But surprisingly, I love doing payroll. It’s like a jigsaw puzzle. When all the pieces fit together and I see the finished product, it’s an amazing feeling.”

There’s nothing puzzling about Darla’s perfection to her craft.

What led me to Datamax?

“That is actually a funny story. I had been in banking for years. I had two job offers and wasn’t crazy about either one. I decided to accept the offer from Sumner Group, thinking I would stay for a while and keep looking. That was over 27 years ago, and I’m still here!"

My experiences at Datamax:

Early on, she didn’t anticipate Datamax would be her home for nearly three decades. But coworkers, she says, have made the difference. Great company. Even greater people.

“My boss, Fred Weaver, was a great guy and made the job interesting. Now I work for Steven, and he’s a kind man with a big heart,” Darla says.

“I was pretty scared when I started doing payroll, but I’ve learned to trust my instincts. Terri and I make a great team. I am the one that panics, and she’s the one who remains calm and is always telling me there is nothing we can’t fix.”

What makes me want to stay at Datamax?

"I have 7-10 years to retirement, and I plan to stay as long as I’m physically able. It’s a good, stable company We are financially sound. We have great plans for the future. We adapt well to the changing markets,” Darla says.
