DATAMAX LITTLE BLUE BOOK STORY - GINNA HILL

Ginna Hill's Story

(Receptionist - Little Rock Office) — The idea of “Team” means a lot to Ginna Hill.

For a professional administrator teeming with confidence, jetted by the spirit of camaraderie, and for someone willing to lend a hand to any of her coworkers in Little Rock, Ginna’s professional success (and likeability) here is undoubtedly fueled by the positive impact of powerful company culture.

It wasn’t ALWAYS that way in her own professional experience. Culture trumps everything – Ginna wouldn't dismiss that for a second.

What led me to Datamax?

Ginna was working at a small private school in Southwest Little Rock, the same place where she attended high school. In her time there, she worked in the after-school program, the summer care program, and eventually managed the former.  Sometimes she would even fill in for teachers during their break time.

“At one point, they asked me if I would take over for a kindergarten teacher full time, and I knew that I was not qualified because my intention was never to be a teacher,” Ginna said. “When they put me there anyways, I knew that it might be time to pursue other paths.”

Russ Hill, a 40+ year Datamax veteran, is Ginna’s father-in-law. Over the years she had overheard stories about his experiences here, the culture, the camaraderie, the confidence management puts in you to do your job well. She liked what she heard, and eventually, a potential fit opened up in the admin department.

My experiences at Datamax:

Situated at the front desk of the Little Rock lobby, Ginna isn’t just that positive first impression for clients as they walk through the door. She’s the eyes and ears of fluid activity, keeping a tab on who’s left the office, who’s returned, who’s out for the day,  etc. She also handles the mail, and assists sales reps in key account details like contract fees, cover copies, overage rates, etc.

Her enthusiasm for Datamax, of course, goes beyond her daily duties.

“My boss is awesome. The people are professional, understanding, and polite. We all know that we’re working toward the same goal, and everyone is willing to lend a hand,” Ginna said. “Datamax not only strives for success, but also strives to help their employees live happy, successful lives.”

What makes me want to stay at Datamax?

Ginna mentions culture and camaraderie: The team approach, the out-of-office opportunities like the annual Dragon Boat Festival, and the approachability of the executive staff.

She also mentions confidence… namely her own.

“I think I came in here with my confidence destroyed. I was thrown into something I wasn’t capable of doing,” Ginna said. “By coming here and slowly learning each and every task and getting better at what I do has really helped me gain more confidence.”

That doesn’t happen if culture doesn’t trump everything.

“I have job interviewees come to me at the front desk all the time and ask ‘What’s it like working here?’” Ginna said. “My response is always, you don’t win Best Places to Work in Arkansas for Seven Straight years for nothing.”
