DATAMAX LITTLE BLUE BOOK STORY - jeff graul

Jeff Graul's Story

(Senior Business Process Consultant - Dallas/Fort Worth Office) - Speak to Jeff Graul long enough, and you’ll sense his passion for his craft.

  • Passion for being available to customers at all times.
  • Passion for earning, and subsequently, receiving, referrals from his Raving Fans.
  • Passion for being a team player, for divvying up credit to those in admin, service, or logistics.

The Senior Business Process Consultant has been in this game long enough to know that Datamax is different from other workplaces. Datamax is a place where teamwork is real and top notch service delivery is more than just a catchphrase.

Raving Fans is the mission. But for Jeff, passion is the M.O.

What led me to Datamax?

Jeff worked for Konica Direct for 7 years prior to coming to Datamax. In fact, his wife Michelle was the billing coordinator at Konica when they met.

“I spoke to her almost every day. I would process my orders through her, and we just clicked on the phone. We met in person and it just went from there.”

A year later, he married Michelle. His career at Konica, meanwhile, stalled. When it came time to explore other options, he already knew of a big Canon competitor at the time – Datamax.

“I worked in the same marketplace. People that I would talk to only had great things to say about them,” Jeff said. “For many years prior to coming to Datamax I had heard of the great reputation Datamax had in our industry and wanted to work for the best and sell the best.”

My experiences at Datamax:

Jeff has fine-tuned his craft at gaining referrals to build his client base. While there is an art to knowing the right time and the right manner in which to ask for a referral, Jeff is very clear about the need to EARN it first. And there’s no other way to do that beyond being responsive and available.

“The big thing is customer service. I have to always be available to my customers,” Jeff said.

All of Jeff’s customers have his cell phone and aren’t afraid to use it any time of day – Saturdays and Sundays included. They know they’ll get a quick response.

“I always felt like that made me different than everybody else,” Jeff said.

Reflecting on his Datamax experiences, he also pinpoints the teamwork that moves in and around the office every day. It’s something that even surprised him when he first came on board.

“We aren’t just individuals but work as a team to accomplish all of our goals,” Jeff said. “It’s an all the time thing. I’m in sales and maybe I get sales rewards, but you have to respect logistics to admin to billing coordinators getting everything ordered for us. The people in the shop getting it put together …I know technicians are working on big installs ways past 5 p.m., and getting machines set up for large orders. It’s everybody."

What makes me want to stay at Datamax?

"Datamax has become something that I really enjoy to the point where I never really stop working,” Jeff said. “I don’t know what to say other than, it’s a real passion.”
