Jeremiah Davis's Story
(Technician - Dallas/Fort Worth Office) - Rest assured, Jeremiah Davis is here to help.
The Dallas/Fort Worth technician has a natural instinct to do whatever he can for those around him. He’s the guy who stops to help someone broke down on the side of the road; or to help a stranded traveler change a flat tire.
That instinct certainly carries over to his work. Beyond any technical expertise (which he certainly has), Jeremiah’s conscientiousness is second to none on being aware of and doing whatever he can, to help a customer in need.
Take the time he went into a preventative maintenance call for a church in Hurst Tx, and the entire facility was flooding. When he noticed the stream of water coming down from the stairs, he moved rugs near the door, found the nearest mop, and helped the staff there move equipment and furniture to prevent damage.
In short, Jeremiah can create that “Wow” factor without even touching a copier.
What led me to Datamax?
Jeremiah worked for 10 years as a sheet metal technician at SpeQtrum Aerospace, before doing contract work for AAR, a global aviation maintenance repair and overhaul station. He says eventually, he grew weary of being stuck behind the same four walls, and coming home with headaches from the chemical smells that came with a day of work.
“I had moved around, and my daughter was in the first grade. I didn’t want to drag her around the country, so I wanted to find a local (Dallas) position somewhere.”
He couldn’t find an aviation opening, but he found Datamax. A representative here found his resume online and Jeremiah found a place that gave him the freedom to focus on his forte, and the guidance to help him reach his full potential.
My experiences at Datamax:
No longer stuck “behind four walls,” Jeremiah loves the interaction with customers and solving issues one at a time in each office he travels.
“That’s what I do. I run around and solve problems all day,” he says.
He also trains. A lot. He mentions a webinar he attended the day before regarding a new Canon document feeder with skewing issues. He also just completed the new 3800 and 5800 series training sessions.
“I think Datamax is very unique in the aspect of training. I think they go above and beyond to work with people to get them where they need to be,” Jeremiah says.
The training certainly helps with what Jeremiah points out as four main characteristics of a successful technician:
- Networking knowledge
- Mechanical knowledge
- Electrical knowledge
- Attention to customer service
“The ultimate payoff to me (with the training) is being more efficient in my job, and always becoming well-rounded,” Jeremiah says. “It really takes a special person to do this job well.”
What makes me want to stay at Datamax?
Jeremiah quickly mentions four benefits of working at Datamax. Competitive pay. Good coworkers. Family atmosphere. Growth opportunities. And then he expands on what keeps him here:
“Even as this company has grown a lot, they remain a family-oriented company. They care about your family life as well as your professional life. Barry (Simon) and David (Rhodes) send me a birthday card, or an anniversary card, every year. I’ve never gotten something like that at other places I’ve worked. I never quite had that feeling that you’re a valuable part of the group — not just an employee.”
