Jeremy Quinn's Story
(Sales - Longview Office) — Jeremy Quinn knew the wireless phone sales industry. He was comfortable with it. He’d been working at a major telecommunications company for a number of years, at a time when that industry was booming. But that doesn’t mean he was meant for it.
After all, Jeremy’s found tremendous success in outside sales. To qualify such a statement, consider that he’s earned Datamax’s Presidents Club three times in three years. He has an almost maddening pursuit of his quota every period, yet a cool, calm attitude that makes businesspeople in East Texas feel at ease. It’s a natural fit on several fronts.
What led me to Datamax?
Jeremy just happens to be related (by marriage) to East Texas Area Sales Manager Josh Sims, who’d more than once poked Jeremy about the potential of exploring outside sales with Datamax.
“I hired Josh 20 years ago at Alltel; we’re cousins through marriage. So, obviously, there’s a relationship there. He kept mentioning that I should come talk to him about moving into outside sales, and I trusted him. He’s family. And here we are today.”
My experiences at Datamax:
The word “autonomy” carries a lot of weight with Jeremy in his career. So does "ambition." He quickly learned in his new role that he no longer had to sit inside a store and wait for customers to come in. He controlled his destiny.
“I’m not stuck in a box. I go out there and find my own customers. You grow relationships better. You network. With the cell phone business, it was very transactional… It doesn’t matter where I am, I’m going to go talk to somebody – so, naturally, this was a pretty good role for me.”
His pursuit of his quota remains relentless, period after period, making Presidents Club attainment a workable achievement that he’s proud to have obtained every year since he’s been at Datamax.
“I’m not going to sit idly. If I hadn’t gotten my quota by the second week of the period, I’m upset. I want to start working toward the next period. I’ve always had quotas my entire career, and my mindset for a long time has been, ‘let’s keep expanding.’”
What makes me want to stay at Datamax?
Ambition. Autonomy. A consistent pursuit of business relationships and personal success. These all lead to opportunities coming to fruition for Jeremy, and as he says, he’s got no interest in sitting idly any time soon.
“This job affords me more opportunities to go do things and not worry about it. To achieve goals that I’ve set out for… After my first Presidents Club, my wife told me right after we got back, ‘Well, we’re going next year too. You'd better go sell something!’ And that’s what I’ve been able to do.”
