DATAMAX LITTLE BLUE BOOK STORY - kym mcgee

Kym McGee's Story

(Supply Coordinator - Little Rock Office) - In many respects, it was a great company. Prior to coming to Datamax, Little Rock Supply Coordinator Kym McGee was a manager for a wholesale company. She had a prominent role, got to travel the country, and was able to support her family.

But something was missing. When she took an honest look at her career, it wasn’t a great cultural fit for her professionally, for a variety of reasons. So she started looking elsewhere, and eventually, in 2006, found Datamax.

“What I noticed right out of the gate was this company was so family oriented. When I first interviewed, it was ‘do you have kids?’ ‘how old are they?’” Kym recalls. “I could tell very early on that the values of this company were so strong, and that was very important to me.”

What led me to Datamax?

Longtime Little Rock employee Barb Noll (who currently works for Datamax), had left for a short time to manage a call center. When Kym went to go interview with Barb at this new company, she mentioned to Kim that there was an opening at Datamax.

“She said ‘you’d be perfect for the company I just left.’ And of course, it was exactly what I was looking for,” Kym said. She started out doing telemarketing for two years, before eventually moving into her current role in Administration.

My experiences at Datamax:

In what was one of the most difficult times for our society, the 2020 pandemic, Kym points to the stability of the company during COVID as a remarkable example of Datamax culture at work.

“Weekly, (President) Barry Simon was giving video updates. He kept us informed about everything that was going on. Even if we did get COVID, we were covered. He was concerned about everyone and committed to helping them keep their jobs. It was a great feeling and great peace of mind as an employee,” Kym said.

What makes me want to stay at Datamax?

That’s easy, Kym says. The people, and the growth of the company.

“When I first came here, we had maybe 80 or 90 employees. It’s grown so much, which shows you that we are here to stay and we are at the top of our marketplace,” Kym says.

There’s a great deal of both security and pride in that, she explains.

“If I’m out talking to someone at another office or out in the community, I can say ‘ I’m with Datamax, are you familiar with us?’ The point of making the Customer a Raving Fan. If a customer has something good to say about you to other people, that’s very important to me. It’s a really good thing.”
