Lisa Seale's Story
(Billing - Sulphur Springs Office) — Lisa Seale loves her job. So much so, that even when she’s on vacation or out ill, she gets this inclination time and time again: “I need to be up there!”
It’s been 24 years since Lisa took a role at what was then Advantage Copy Systems in Sulphur Springs. A lot has changed, but a lot hasn’t. Most notably? That sense of family inside the office that hugs IH-30, a mere two miles from the famous Sulphur Springs square.
“It just feels like home up here,” Lisa said. “My colleagues here in Sulphur Springs, they are like family. And I have the best manager – she communicates with and encourages me every day. I just feel blessed to be here working with Datamax,” she said.
What led me to Datamax?
Lisa left Dallas and returned home to Sulphur Springs to start anew. It didn’t take long for her new life in East Texas to start rolling.
“I had walked into an employment agency and the gentleman in the office was on the phone, and he called me in,” Lisa said. “He looked at my resume and told the person on the other end of the line, ‘hold on one second. I might have someone for you,’” Lisa said. “And that was it. I interviewed that day.”
That position, of course, was Advantage Copy Systems (acquired by Datamax in 2020). The rest is history.
My experiences at Datamax:
Lisa was initially hired to answer phones and handle dispatch. Over time, she's done dang near everything (collections, toner, etc.) there is to do at an office equipment dealership… even sold a fax machine right from her front desk.
“Back in the day, I would take a toner order, walk back into the warehouse, pull it, and handle the transaction right there,” Lisa said. “One time, the owner was on a cruise and I was the only person there. A man came in and wanted to buy a fax machine, and I did a demo for him right there at my desk because I knew that machine well. He wrote a check for it and I wrote up a receipt!”
More recently, Lisa was asked to take on billing, a task that initially made her nervous but one that she now takes great pride in.
“My manager (Summar Sinclair) was like ‘You’ve got this!’ With her encouragement and her training, I love it.”
What makes me want to stay at Datamax?
What has developed over time in East Texas is a tight-knit group of administrators who collaborate, problem-solve together, and genuinely love one another’s company. When one has an issue, they pray for that person. When something unexpected occurs, the manager’s there for support. It all encompasses what Lisa calls a rarity in today’s workplace cultures.
“I was headed to Tyler for a training one morning, and I was pulling into the parking lot when I learned that my aunt had passed. Summar immediately said, ‘Go be with your family!’ She cared. Everyone cared. I wouldn’t want to go any place else. This is my home. I want to retire here.”
