DATAMAX LITTLE BLUE BOOK STORY - NICK ROACH

Nick Roach's Story

(Business Process Consultant - Dallas/Fort Worth Office) — Nick Roach KNOWS relationships. He genuinely thrives in getting to know people.
He understands the vast difference between a vendor slinging boxes and a partner who delivers relevant solutions, stands by those recommendations, and walks side by side with the client from day one onward.

He’s taken his relationship skills and molded them into his role as a Business Process consultant in Dallas/Fort Worth. With the help of peers and managers, he’s built a career path that’s delivering five-star reviews at every turn.

As he should. One: He spent 7 + years in the hospitality industry (restaurants and hotels), honing his chops on what it means to provide an exceptional experience for a customer. Two: He’s a hustler. Before coming to Datamax, Nick worked two jobs (at a warehouse and at a gym) to both support his family and scratch that customer service itch as much as possible.

What led me to Datamax?

Before joining Datamax, Nick was working in hotels and restaurants and eventually moved into management. After stepping into a warehouse job as a machine operator, he found himself missing the customer service and people interaction that had always energized him. To fill that void, he picked up a part-time job at a local gym, balancing two jobs and working more than 80 hours a week for nearly two years.

"It was during a visit to that gym on an off day that I met someone who encouraged me to explore an opportunity at Datamax,” Nick said.

After interviewing, he quickly recognized that the culture and atmosphere here were something special. He saw real potential for himself at Datamax and was energized by the chance to move into a role where effort and results mattered more than simply hours worked.

My experiences at Datamax:

As Nick quickly learned, sales ain’t easy. Building confidence and adapting communication skills were essential. However, he soon realized that at Datamax, the role wasn’t about just being another salesperson. It was about representing the company as a trusted consultant, someone who would truly listen to clients and fully understand their needs.

“You’ve got to have some tough skin in this job. It’s not for everyone. With the company, I’ve got nothing but incredible things to say. This is a place, a culture, where you’re invited into. You feel heard. You feel like you’re a part of the family,” Nick said.

After just a few conversations, he had enormous respect for his new colleagues. What stood out most was that the support he received didn’t come from one person alone; it came from the entire team. That environment made him feel welcomed and part of something larger than himself.

What makes me want to stay at Datamax?

Sales is tough. But the support + culture here make Datamax a place where he can truly thrive.

“At one point, I worked two jobs simply to make ends meet. My biggest frustration was that my income was based strictly on hours worked. Here, my efforts are rewarded. That’s motivating. But beyond the financial side, what keeps me here are the people. Some of my closest friends are those I’ve made at Datamax,” Nick said.
