Rhonda Burton's Story
(Warranties - Little Rock Office) — It’s been said that versatility is an extra string to a player’s bow. If that’s the case, Rhonda Burton is a legitimate virtuoso inside the Little Rock Warehouse.
If you pass by Rhonda’s workspace, it may look like there’s a lot going on. That’s because there IS a lot going on. Shuffling between toner boxes, parts ready to ship, and dozens of printed documents containing important supplies intel, Rhonda holds steady amid the many moving parts of her Datamax role. Her title may bear that of handling product warranties, which she does do, but there is so much more that Rhonda does day in and day out, between parts, shipping, and management of supplies for Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
Her manager, Russ Hill, brags about both her character and her versatility.
“I would describe Rhonda as being honest, trustworthy and versatile. Since becoming part of my team she has taken on new responsibilities with the handling of warranty claims, while still being heavily involved in the ordering and overall operations of the supply department. She also finds time to lend support and backup to the parts department. Her ability to help out in every position in the warehouse makes her a very valuable member of the team,” he said.
What led me to Datamax?
It had a lot to do with her husband, Barry, who just so happens to work as a technician for Datamax in Little Rock.
“I was working elsewhere and really wanted to join a different environment. Barry kind of drug me over here and introduced me to (then logistics manager) Tony. It was completely new – I wasn’t used to working with computers, but I gave it a shot,” Rhonda said.
She started out in shipping and after five years, Rhonda moved over to warranties. In this, her primary role, she takes note of anything that comes in damaged and works to get it replaced or correct replacement parts ordered. The same goes for damaged toner. As mentioned, Rhonda has her hands in many areas in and around the logistics department inside Little Rock, establishing great value for herself and the department as a whole.
My experiences at Datamax:
She’s happy with her recent move over to warranties (less heavy lifting), and appreciates the ability to vary her work duties and also collaborate with others in an open environment.
“I’m one of these people, if I don’t understand I’ll go ask,” Rhonda said. “There is always someone who is willing to show me or tell me how to do something. There’s a lot of patience out there among technicians and others I work with every day. There’s encouragement. I like that.”
What makes me want to stay at Datamax?
“I like the people here. Everyone is friendly. We laugh a lot,” Rhonda said. “There’s a lot of positivity surrounding what we do here… Our company looks out for us. We’re a big family. And just like any family, we may not agree on everything, but we work it out.”
And just like any orchestral group, it always helps to have that player with the extra bow.
