Datamax Little Blue Book Story - Shawn Hay

Shawn Hay's Story

(Service Manager, Dallas/Fort Worth Office)  Shawn Hay’s last employer went out of business.

That said, Datamax’s continued growth pursuit, most recently the Firmin’s Office City acquisition in Texarkana, is a big plus for him when sees his career path moving forward. The bigger Datamax is, he figures, the better off he is.

He loves the structure, but also the support he receives from everyone around him. He sees his superiors – the way they handle themselves and their employees – and he strives everyday to be like them.

As seen by his upward direction within the Datamax organization since he arrived in 2004, he’s accomplishing just that and more.

What led me to Datamax?

“I worked for a local agency that had gone out of business. I had a fellow employee who had come over to Datamax and loved it. I started in the shop for three months, then worked onsite accounts for about six months. I became a technician and eventually lead tech, and then was promoted to supervisor.

For the past eight months, I’ve worked as a Service Manager."

My experiences at Datamax:

"I love the organization and that everything is departmentalized. The company I worked for before was a small mom and pop, but this is big. It’s structured. You’ve got support everywhere around you. Everyone I’ve worked for and with has been very good and very fair to me here.

I don’t have a college degree. But I’ve managed to work hard and work up through Datamax, and I’m very happy."

What makes me want to stay at Datamax?

"Technology is always changing, and Datamax changes with it. You’re not doing the same thing over and over again. That’s a constant benefit for me personally.

As I move up the ladder, positions change, requirements change and you’re constantly learning. You don’t ever go stale."
