Letter on the Third — February 2021

Dear Datamax Family,

What does it mean to be fanatical?

Fanatical is defined as being motivated or characterized by an extreme, uncritical enthusiasm or zeal for something. I’m fanatical about my health, which motivates me to get up at 4 a.m. every morning to exercise. I’m fanatical about my family. But I’m also fanatical about helping influence growth for people across this company. The best compliment I could receive is “he mentored me to reach that point in my career.” It’s like they say, people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.

What are you fanatical about at Datamax?

I had the opportunity to meet with our sales people here recently, and I talked about the importance of putting things into Sherpa – that it's malpractice not to. It’s no different than the doctor not putting anything into your chart during your exam. By putting detailed information into the database, we have the facts and history available to us when we call that person back years down the road. That’s being passionate about details. That’s being fanatical about your role.

Are we creating fanatical experiences for our customers?

Our service teams have the opportunity to make our customers enthusiastic about doing business with us. When a technician is done with his or her repair, it’s important to go find that person and make contact with them. Let them know you have completed the job, and ask if there are any questions. Likewise, when our delivery teams are excited about rolling brand new equipment in, what a great first impression of Datamax for that new customer.

Our admin teams can deliver similar fanaticism. How many of us have dealt with a lack of service response from a technology vendor? You dial a number, get handed off to a number of people, repeat your issue to every one of them, and eventually get dropped. That’s why we have live people answering the phone, and why we stress the importance of response and constant communication with people who need our services.

We’re always fanatical about our growth at Datamax.

You’re either green and growing, or you’re ripe and rotting. In closing, I remind you that your personal growth matters at Datamax. Myself, our executives, and your managers aim to respond to your career aspirations, and to see your professional growth in your specific role flourish. We’re fanatical about that. And you should be, too. The Best is Yet to Be.
