Fostering Change in Healthcare

New Datamax initiative enables organizations to assess the wellness of their HIPAA Compliance,  assure the safety of patient health information and activate a long-term compliance strategy.

When visiting with healthcare organizations, Sherry Lee sees it often.

Many medical facilities remain resistant to adapt to the ever-changing cybersecurity landscape around them. They are slow to move on HIPAA-mandated requirements like the Security Risk Analysis.  They lack the tools to detect and recover from cyber attacks.

They are unsure of how exactly to move forward.

The reality remains, though. The heavy fines associated with penalties that come with HIPAA non-compliance – or an actual data breach - can be disastrous for these organizations. It could even put them out of business. In fact, a recent Ponemon Institute study reports that “the cost of a healthcare data breach is $408 per record — higher than any other industry."

Lee and other Certified HIPAA Professionals in the Little Rock Office serve as agents of change for these facilities, guiding them confidently through their compliance journey.

“It’s like sticking their head in the sand sometimes,” Lee, Datamax Solutions Specialist in Little Rock, said. “When it comes to compliance components, things like the annual Security Risk Analysis, they must realize this is the law. If these organizations aren’t taking the necessary steps (toward compliance), they may not get fined today. But they will eventually.”

Datamax, in partnership with Konica Minolta’s All Covered IT Division, recently launched our Managed Compliance Services Program in Arkansas. This program looks to foster a secure and compliant environment for the healthcare organizations of all sizes that we serve. Through a thorough assessment process, visual intelligence and reporting, and continued workforce education, these organization can trek forward confidently through their HIPAA Compliance journey ahead.

And it is a journey that it is better traveled with a trusted partner like Datamax.

“I’m ecstatic about this. It’s a much needed offering that Datamax and All Covered are now providing,” Datamax Inc. President Barry Simon said. “These fines are huge for these organizations if they don’t  maintain compliance. Managed Compliance Services gives us whole another area of expertise that our clients can benefit from.”
