As the Admin. Supervisor at Datamax Dallas/Fort Worth, Yvie Majano is the administrator of many moving parts.
The choreographer is responsible for directing all elements of dance in a play or musical, collaborating with other department heads to discover just the right calculated movement for any given moment in a show. Yvie, Administration Manager Jackie Campos, and the DFW administrative team at large, in their own way, are experienced choreographers. Behind the scenes, they orchestrate Raving Fan experiences. Every. Single. Day.
“Our job is to make sure the customer gets taken care of on the back end (once a deal is completed),” Yvie said. “There are certainly a lot of moving parts that come with that. In our position, we need to be chameleons, handling different types of people and different types of personalities all the time. To succeed in our role, you have to be built a little differently.”
Like any good choreographer, you have to create a routine that is spectacular for both participants and the audience — one that’s worth Raving about.
Choreography that Moves Smoothly.
For everything to run smoothly, all components of admin must be synched.
It all starts in Dallas/Fort Worth with receptionist Yvonne Johns. When a call comes in, it’s her job to navigate the customer’s need and hand it off accordingly; also, she must potentially de-escalate a given situation. At the same time, once a sale goes through, that info is sent to the billing coordinator. When a device is delivered, it’s up to Yvie to set up the contract and make sure everything is accurate.
Once the ball is rolling, it’s up to professionals like supply coordinator Sandra Roeling, billing coordinators Brianna Isaacson and Emily Nau, and collections specialist Jennifer Duke to facilitate ongoing needs, be they supply needs, invoice changes, billing issues, etc.
When admin cannot handle the need, that’s where the cross-departmental collaboration takes place. Yvie works closely with people like VP of Service Steve Kennemer, the warehouse crew, and individual reps to address the customer’s wants and needs because even when there’s a hiccup, the show must go on.
Choreography that Moves Upward.
Yvie (who happens to be Jackie’s sister) was looking for more than just a job. She was hungry for a career when she first applied to Datamax.
“Jackie told me there was an opening in service dispatch, so I applied,” Yvie said. “I didn’t previously have a job with full-time hours or benefits, and I was looking for a company that could provide that. Jackie told me about everything Datamax had done for her, so I gave it a shot.”
After a year in dispatch, Yvie moved over to admin as the billing coordinator, before eventually earning a promotion to supervisor.
“I wanted to learn more about the industry, from service, sales, and logistics,” Yvie said.
Being in management has been a goal for her for as long as she can remember.
“Having the opportunity to move up to supervisor, I wanted to take it. I’m a very ambitious person. I need to know things. It’s good for me to know everyone’s position, to be that resource, to help figure out any issues someone on the team may have.”
Choreography that Moves Together.
If choreography ultimately comes down to synchronicity, Henry Ford’s famous quote is apropos here: “If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself.”
So how does the Admin team move in DFW? Let’s allow Yvie to introduce these choreographers.
There’s Yvonne Johns, the receptionist who “is always asking what else she can do to help.” Citali Vazquez is the Administrative Assistant, who is “always very polite and courteous, a true example of customer service.” Billing Coordinator Emily Nau is “always very thorough and detailed in her work,” while fellow biller Brianna Isaacson “is always willing to assist and is accommodating.”
Ask Yvie about Supply Coordinator Sandra Roeling, and she says she “always responds first to help in any situation. Finally, Jennifer Duke, longtime collections specialist “is able to maintain composure and de-escalates issues with upset customers.”
Reading through these introductions, one gets a clear glimpse of the teamwork, the synchronicity, and the choreography that goes on behind the scenes at Datamax. Every. Single. Day, the show goes on.
