Our Administrative teams are SO much more than support staff. They're Pillars of Support. They provide stability and structure, and they bear giant loads to ensure it gets done, and it gets done right. In celebration of our Admin teams' efforts, we give you 6 of their defining characteristics, all of which create immeasurable value toward the Datamax mission.

When I think of all of our administrative employees at Datamax, and what they do for our organization, I can’t help but visualize pillars. Oxford defines a pillar as a person or thing regarded as reliably providing essential support for something. Pillars stand firm. They offer immense support. They are constantly reliable, even when carrying a heavy load every single day.

President, Datamax Inc.

They have to be. The team in DFW shows this characteristic in action, particularly when a lot of devices are at play. Read about one recent example.
Polychronicity? It's just a fancy word for multi-tasking. Read examples about how admin teams in Little Rock, DFW, ETX and Hot Springs practice this on a daily basis.
Our admin teams are, if nothing else, patient in a poetic sense. Read a few examples from our "Pillars" in Fort Smith, Longview, and Sulphur Springs, and more.
Did you know? You get an extra day off, given that you spend those hours giving back to the community you live and work in every day. Click for details!

When large, complex projects come into play, we've got the Admin Department on speed dial. Read about just one BIG example with the onboarding and supporting of Baptist Health in Arkansas, and another pillar (Lindsey Russett) in Texarkana that keeps calm during the proverbial storm.

William Benson
Little Rock
Sometimes, it's the seemingly simple things that make the biggest impact for those we serve. With a local customer in a big-time bind, William Benson arrived in literally minutes to move a machine that needed to be moved... and moved fast.

Candi Gesch
Saint Louis
You can't talk about the amazing tenure in Saint Louis without mentioning Candi Gesch, who arrived at Datamax in 1994. She's seen changes, and her roles have evolved, but the constant comfort and camaraderie remain steady as ever.

Shelby Estes
Dallas/Fort Worth
How does a new salesperson leap over a steep learning curve, look the part of a seasoned pro, and deliver some major results? Look at Shelby Estes. She brought the patience, preparedness, and persistence to deliver a big-time solution in DFW.
Serve Lewisville
Dallas/Fort Worth
In the spirit of remaining active in his community, VP of Strategic Technology Justin Huffaker recently joined the board of Serve Lewisville, which celebrated its grand opening ribbon cutting this past month. Click to learn more about this organization!

It's a nickname for our East Texas collections specialist you'd never expect. But it's also the truth. Whether it's digging in deep to solve a problem, or showing prowess in collecting on past-due accounts, our Admin teams are top dogs at making sure it gets done. East Texas is certainly no exception.
Tell us about your family: My wife Julie and I have been married for 26 years. She’s a veterinarian and a superb mom to our three children: Jackson, (junior at Loyola University in Chicago), Lucy (senior at St. Joseph’s Academy High School), and Autumn (sophomore at U. City High School).
Hometown: I was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana, but consider St. Louis my hometown, having spent 30 years here.
Hobbies: I like to work on my 90-year-old house and have taught myself how to do electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc.
When you're not at Datamax, what are you a Raving Fan of? I have a goal to climb to the highest point of every state in the US, each year I check off one or two more. This year it was “Mt.” Sunflower, Kansas (easy) and Humphrey’s Peak, Arizona (difficult).
Tell us about your family: St. Louis originals situated in cozy Des Peres, Missouri. Kailee is the mother of my son, Lochlan. He is much cuter than I am.
My ancestors were sheep thieves who were banished to the “New World” by the English King. So, they kept their heads and sailed across the sea to become Americans. Then the Revolutionary War broke out, they chose to stay loyal to a king who threatened to take their heads and moved north, becoming Canadians. That’s why my mother's extended family lives in Canada, despite originally being American.
My fathers’ side of the family is unexceptional.
Hometown: Saint Louis, Missouri
Hobbies: My hobbies include my lawn and my dog. I also consume fiction and non-fiction and the occasional comic book. I enjoy learning about history and the natural sciences. I love tickling my son!
When you're not at Datamax, what are you a Raving Fan of? I am passionate about winter sports, although I haven’t had the opportunity to play them in years. I recently attended a rock show in Dallas, TX with a friend. I enjoy pre-eminently cutting my lawn to avoid instances of my mother calling to report that it’s longer than the neighbors.
Tell us about your family: My father did 20+ years in the Navy before retiring. My mother was a stay-at-home mom that homeschooled my 7 siblings and me. All 7 of us have graduated from college!
Hometown: I am originally from Pennsylvania.
Hobbies: My hobbies include Boy Scouts, building computers, video games, gaming, graphic design, hiking, Battle Tech & Dungeons and Dragons.
When you're not at Datamax, what are you a Raving Fan of? When I am not at Datamax, I love to play video games and tabletop games with friends and family. As well as making art on my computer.
We love welcoming our new employees. That's why we've added the Datamax New Hire Dashboard – so you can get to know a little more about our new hires right off the bat. If you see one of these folks around the office, please say "hello! "

Are we unified in our own communication? I don’t know if we could ever communicate too much, or too often. In fact, we have many methods of communication available – email, meetings, hallway conversations, the Rave Review, the company handbook and our Little Blue Book, to name several. How well do we utilize these resources? How often do we go to these channels to ensure we stay in the know? I take to heart Datamax Principle #8: “Keep everyone informed.”
Just as we keep customers up to date on issues and business processes, it’s everyone’s job here to remain informed, to communicate issues, to address challenges, and then “make decisions based on the good of the entire organization.”

For Laura Allen (and for our branch support team in St. Louis), it was, is, and will always be about family. As Laura announces her retirement, we stop to wish one of our own the very best in the months and years ahead.
