It's been said that "If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn't thinking." When we come to the table to discuss, we’re bound to disagree. And that’s ok… really. But when that occurs, we abide by what we’re calling the 15/6 Principle: “We have the right to disagree (#15).” But when we do, "we make decisions based on the good of the entire organization (#6).”

Let me be the first to say it: “It’s OK to Agree to Disagree.” But that’s just the starting point.
As I do with all new employees, when I go through the pages of the Datamax Little Blue Book, oftentimes #6 comes first: “Make decisions based on the good of the entire organization.” Of course that makes sense to people. However, as we progress through the book, I point out another big one, #15: “We have the right to disagree.”

President, Datamax Inc.

We have the right to disagree, and that's a GOOD thing. But it's not the last thing. Datamax Texas President David Rhodes shares insights on how healthy conflict leads to productive discussion from all perspectives, action items, and ultimately, a resolution that's good for all parties involved.
