LITTLE ROCK, ARK (Sept. 23, 2025) — For the eighth time, Datamax was officially recognized as one of the “Best Places to Work in Arkansas” at a luncheon held by Arkansas Business Sept. 18. Supported by an “Out of this World” theme, Datamax Arkansas President David Holzhauer said the host publication went out of its way to provide another stellar and memorable event.
“Overall, just a great event that we were humbled to be a part of,” Holzhauer said. "They do a very, very good job of sharing insights on these individual (award-winning) companies and what makes them unique in what they do."
Being represented amongst the winners, which span the entire state of Arkansas, was not only a cause for celebration, but a reminder for Holzhauer of how this recognition represents “a thermometer for the culture of our company.”
“It’s a gauge that tells you whether we’re heading in the right direction toward our goal, which is to Create Raving Fans out of our clients, but certainly our employees as well,” Holzhauer said.
The selection process for this honor places significant weight (80% of the scoring) on the voices of employees. The program begins with an employer assessment, where organizational policies and practices are reviewed. That’s followed by a third-party Employee Feedback Survey conducted by Workforce Research Group: a direct reflection on team members’ everyday experiences within the workplace.
To be eligible for consideration, organizations must:
- Be a publicly or privately held business
- Be a for-profit, not-for-profit business or government entity
- Have a facility in the state of Arkansas
- Have a minimum of 15 full-time or part-time employees working in Arkansas
- Must be in business for a minimum of one year
Datamax Inc. President Barry Simon said that for those sitting around the table at the luncheon, there was a sense of pride that permeated not only for themselves, but for every member of the company who worked together to earn this achievement. It also serves as a reminder that the organization must always keep an open conversation on workplace satisfaction, encourage employee feedback, and take its temperature on the direction of its culture.
“When you talk about the idea that ‘culture trumps everything,’ you don’t ever stop. You’ve got to continue to make sure you’re doing things the right way as an organization,” Simon said.
